Cecile’s Scrapbook

Below are the beginning pages of Cecile Clara White’s teenage scrapbook. You can read more about Cecile and her scrapbook here.  If you are a Surry County, NC researcher, you may find familiar names listed below.  I do not know the identity or the relationship they had to my grandmother and her family.

If you recognize a name or face, please leave a comment.

Of note is the photograph of Morris W. Monday.  I do not know if he was a friend or cousin of my grandmother’s.

Names included on this page are Ed Comer, son of W. Sid and Mattie (Woltz) Comer; Tommie Sprinkle; Mary and Webster Comer; Cecil White; Bernice and Billie Marion.  The Comers were cousins of Cecile’s through her mother Stella Holyfield White’s side of the family.  Stella’s sister Martha Holyfield married Webster Comer.

This is the high school invitation that was in the envelope on page 2 above.  LaVerne Comer would have been a cousin of Cecile’s as well.

This is a great page of photographs: Martha and Webster Comer, Mary and Billie Comer, Webster Comer (the younger) and Estell Comer.

School and family are common themes that you will see throughout my grandmother’s scrapbook.

There is more to come next Friday!
