The Boys of Halifax County

One of the advantages of an office re-organization is one finds things. Things that get put away and not thought about in a while.

I came across this scrapbook with The Boy of Halifax County in Service handwritten inside of the front cover.

Inside are pages of newspaper clippings of Halifax County, VA servicemen fighting in World War II.  I’m not sure who put together this scrapbook, but I suspect it was my aunt Elton Carr Dixon Finley.  Elton’s brother Ernest Carr served in the Navy during WWII.

My plan is to scan and post the pages of this scrapbook.  I hope these pages will be of help to other researchers of Halifax County.    Surnames on the page below include: Seate, Moore, Penick, Andrews, and Whitt.
